400 seconds of awesome: take a ride on a solid rocket booster

52 years ago today, a human named Yuri Gagarin became the first to cross the Karman Line.  Here’s what that ride was like.

This NASA video, compiled from solid rocker booster camera footage from two different launches, shows what it’s like to ride an SRB from the launch pad to the edge of space (poetically, but not technically: they’re “only” about 40 miles up) and back down to splash into the Atlantic some 130 miles away.
